Oh, My Darlings: J'aime & I is Un-bear-ably Cute

Electro? Indie? Pop? It's hard to choose the right label when it comes to the sweet synth sounds of up-and-coming four piece band J'aime & I. A very visual group, J'aime & I is fronted vocally by adorable NYC-native Janice Jaime, a blonde bombshell who lights up the stage in frothy lolita (not the kinder-slut kind, the awesome Japanese street-style kind) frocks and bubble-gum pink lipstick. Her baby-doll Barbie rocker style and sweet, lullaby pop vocals are a striking - and delicious - contrast to the cute, edgy punk-synths and street-smart lyrics J'aime and I's music is quickly becoming known for in the local NYC music circuit.

But Janice isn't the only visual delight on stage - the band's resident guitarist, who simply goes by the name Disco, wears a giant stuffed teddy bear head while rocking out on stage. Don't call it a prop, though. The bear head has become somewhat of an integral part of the band's cute childhood-meets-gritty-reality image. If stellar synth-punk music, a toothache-inducingly cute vocalist, equally attractive and talented band mates Felipe and Camila, and city-sharp lyrics aren't enough of a pull to get you to check them out... a dude blindly jumping around on stage playing guitar in a giant stuffed teddy bear head should make you more than curious. (Yes, he actually plays with it on his head.)
