Sugar, Spice, Everything Nice: Discover Cinnamon Girl

Photobucket

If you're looking to spice up your synth-pop playlist with something sweet, then look no father than newcomer Cinnamon Girl. Our friend Jay at Nu Wave Pony was the first to discover and introduce this lovely lady to me, and boy am I glad that he did! The up-and-coming electrocutie, also known as Camilla Roholm, may be the new kid on the pop block, but her edgy, fizzy electro-pop tunes are seasoned with a polished production well beyond her indie roots.

Bringing to mind the punk-ska leanings of early 90's No Doubt, as well as the stylistic vocal range of Gwen Stefani, London-based singer-songwriter Cinnamon Girl crafts some seriously infectious synth-pop that's at once both edgy and upbeat, punky and polished. Featuring sunny guitar riffs, warbling vocals, new-wave synths, and catchy lyrics that get stuck in your head, Cinnamon Girl creates addictive nu-wave pop that falls somewhere between Gwen Stefani, Robyn, and Cyndi Lauper.

Debut track "Friends," available for free download right now, is a quirky, bright synth-rock track which showcases the singer's signature vibrato, along with stomping synths and chilled-out, grungy guitars.

"Your Eyes Are Glass" offers up a darker slice of electro-rock, with urgent, yelping vocals, electric guitars breakdowns, and an aching bassline that throbs in all the right places.

Keep an eye out for more on this exciting emerging artist. Visit Cinnamon Girl online here!

Doll Revolution: Discover The Urban Dance-Pop Of Kelsey-Maree

Photobucket

Stomping beats. Soulful voice. Addictive pop. The urban dance-pop of colorful Australian-American singer Kelsey-Maree includes all of this and more. The gorgeous electro-pop up-and-comer creates feel-good, sometimes emotional electronic urban-pop. With sonic influences that reference R&B, dance, techno, and bubblegum pop, Kelsey-Maree's music may seem to be all over the map, but it's her warm, soulful voice that feels just like home.

"It's Love," which was featured on the hit video game 'Audition,' is more of a dancefloor stomper, with soaring synths, throbbing electronic beats, and euphoric lyrics about an indescribable love:

On "La La La," also for 'Audition,' Kelsey-Maree sticks to the dancefloor, but the beat is darker and edgier:

"Diamonds and Pearls" brings more of the urban flavor, with touches of R&B and sweet, upbeat synths:

Kelsey-Maree is currently working on new material, as well as filming for her new music video, so stay tuned for more on this lovely rising artist! Visit her on Facebook here or YouTube here for more information and more tracks.

Sweet Lullaby: Discover The Fairytale Synth-Pop Of Kota

Photobucket

With her sweet doe eyes and pastel hair, California-based singer-songwriter Kota seems like a fairy princess straight out of a dreamland. Or perhaps a Disney princess gone pop star. And truth be told, that’s exactly what her music sounds like. With a warm, soulful voice that sounds as if it’s right out of an old world jazz club, there’s a certain coziness and harmony to Kota’s passionate vocals, one which allows her voice to melt over the lush soundscapes of her unique brand of electronic fairytale pop.

Kota’s music is, for the most part, a sugar-sweet arrangement of melodic indie pop and sparkling synths, all at once earthy and celestial. While there is an unmistakably raw and heartfelt quality to her songs, a quality that only comes from being an independent artist, there is also a soft polish and lush production that hints towards a bright future in pop.

Photobucket

There’s a gauzy, dreamlike quality to Kota, evident in the haunting, pleading vocals and wistful synth-pop of her song “Save Me,” off of her independently released ‘Inner Space’ EP. Similarly, “Grounded” is an uplifting, twinkling electro-pop track with soaring synths and space-age, spacious electronic melodies.

Despite her electronic pop leanings, the candy-haired songstress is also at home in the acoustic realm. Her piano-driven song “Sweet Lullaby” is an enchanting piece with warmth, starting off with a melodic piano line before drifting into an upbeat synth-pop chorus. “With You” is an acoustic guitar love song with passionate vocals and catchy harmonies, and a great aural illustration to the rawness and soul within Kota’s voice.

Inner Space EP - Kota

While Kota is still relatively underground and is also involved in another band (Bad Wolf, also amazing!), there is a whimsical and unique quality to both her and her solo music. That being said, I doubt that this rising electro-pop pixie will continue to stay indie for long.

Visit Kota online here.

Get ready for Trouble: With her long dirty blonde locks, killer style, and nearly-polished electro-pop, it's doubtful that LA-based pop artist Betty Trouble isn't out to cause a ruckus with her addictive songs. The edgy dance-pop darling, whose latest collaborations include working with the likes of Diplo, Rusko, and Switch, is clearly destined for electro greatness.

Photobucket

If Kylie Minogue, Robyn, and Natalia Kills had a sonic lovechild, she would be called Trouble. Turn Up The Radio: Discover Feliciana

Photobucket

Meet Feliciana: Your new favorite Electrocutie! Throbbing electronic beats, crystal clear vocals, and just a dash of sexy Euro-dance mark the musical stylings of Netherlands-based dance-pop artist Feliciana, whose latest offering, "Turn Up The Radio," comes in the form of a hazy, strobe-lit party-romp of a video. This talented singer-songwriter only recently bleeped onto our radar, but chances are, she's set to stay there for quite a while.

Photobucket

Feliciana has all the makings of an international dance-pop superstar, including soulful, powerhouse vocals, just the right amount of party trash swag, radio-primed, club-ready beats, and edgy style, both musically and fashion-wise. The rising pop star, who collaborates with her own production team called The Difference, is gearing up for the release of her new 'UNEEK EP,' and has been dropping samples of the tracks on YouTube the past few weeks. So far, the beats are loud, the synths are pulsing, and Feliciana is already comfortable wearing the dance diva crown, her vocal delivery full of confidence and quirky swagger.

The crown jewel so far, however, is definitely lead single "Turn Up The Radio," a massive dance-pop hit with serious radio potential in the same electro-pop vein of Robyn, Kesha, or Wynter Gordon. "Turn up the radio! I wanna da-a-a-a-ance-ance!" Feliciana cries in the throes of dancefloor bliss as the infectious chorus drops. Check it out below:

Photobucket

If sweet Swedish electro-pop tickles your aural tastebuds (and that includes, like, literally everyone), then you're going to love what DJ duo Rebecca and Fiona are serving up. Frosty synths and throbbing dancefloor beats are just part of the recipe that make up the girls' delicious synth stylings, and their cool, echoing vocals serve as the frosting on top.

You'll Really, Really Like Her: Discover The Ear-Candy Of Lola Blanc

Photobucket

Meet Lola Blanc, the super colorful raven-haired beauty that is absolutely going to be your new favorite electro-poppin' electrocutie. The Los Angeles based pop up-and-comer debuted a new electro-pop track today called "You Like Me," and it is instantly infectious!

The song starts with a twinkling synth-pop intro, Lola cooing "la la la" atop the beats as they build before the track suddenly topples into a heavy wobbling dubstep drop (a tasteful one, unlike some other awkwardly-placed dubstep homages in pop songs). But the fun really starts when the chorus kicks in, Lola listing off all her less attractive habits ("I'm demanding, I'm stubborn, my makeup's all running!") and singing, "But you really, really like me." You've got that right.

The track is sweet and sticky all at once, with sparkly synths, dirty drops, and bubbly beats that play well into the playful tone of the song. Check out "You Like Me" below:

You Like Me - Lola Blanc

While the adorable electro-pop princess (yeah, we're callin' it!) may be total eye candy with her cute pastel-drenched style and pink pout, it's the ear candy she's serving up that's giving us a major sweet tooth for Lola, and we can't wait for more!

Visit Lola on Buzznet here for more information, and stay tuned for more on the synth-pop cutie!

Gettin' Hitched: Discover Gypsy Pop Artist Neon Hitch

Photobucket

Neon Hitch is about to become your newest obsession. And for those wondering, yes, that is her real name. The gorgeous London-based artist is currently working with mega-producer Benny Blanco on her debut album, tentatively titled Beg, Borrow, and Steal.

With her exotic, quivering voice, Neon Hitch crafts insanely infectious - and totally unique - extravagant electro-pop tunes. Her repertoire also includes an impressive selection of genre-hopping song covers and reworks - everything from Ellie Goulding to Snoop Dogg - and she is one of the few artists who (in my opinion) actually surpasses some of the original artists with her unusual interpretations.

Her original songs, though, could be best described, perhaps, as a sort of psychedelic, jazzy, world-infused gypsy electro-pop. Yep. Like I said, she's totally your new obsession!

You can visit her online here and be sure to keep your eyes and ears peeled for news on her upcoming video release and album.
